Hi everyone! I'm excited to partner with chef Mangini to give away a copy of her just released book The Vegetable Butcher and a Zwilling pro prep knife to one lucky winner.  To enter, please leave a comment about a vegetable you find most challenging to prep or cook with. The winner will be selected at random and announced on Saturday, May 14th.  US residents only please.

  1. I have a hard time with summer squash. I always seem to over cook or undercook it. It's hard to find that sweet spot.

  2. I think cooking eggplants is difficult. It is hard to get the right texture and consistency where it is not mushy, rubbery or oily.

  3. Cauliflower is the hardest to cook with. The flavor is just hard to make pleasing.

  4. I think kale is difficult for me. Since it is too bland and has hard texture, there are not many recipes for kale that can make it more interesting.

  5. I can't seem to find a good way to make okra. The texture is always too slimy when stir-fried or boiled. I tried grilling but it shrunk and became chewy.

  6. We love turnips and beets in this household but they are such a pain to prep up! A good knife always makes all the difference!
